What are SMART Standards? B03

What are SMART Standards?

Do you find yourself overwhelmed by the various standards and regulations in the field of project management? If so, you're not alone. With so many acronyms and jargon to navigate, it can be challenging to keep track of what's what. One set of standards that you may have come across is SMART standards. But what exactly are SMART standards, and how do they apply to project management software (PMS) offerings?

What are SMART Standards in Project Management?

SMART is an acronym that stands for SpecificMeasurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. These standards are used as a framework to help ensure that project goals are clear, attainable, and well-defined. By setting goals that meet the SMART criteria, project managers can improve their chances of successful project completion.

Specific Goals

Specific goals are those that are clear and well-defined. They answer the questions of who, what, when, where, and why. For example, a specific goal could be to increase customer satisfaction by 10% within the next quarter.

Measurable Goals

Measurable goals are those that can be quantified or measured. This allows project managers to track progress and determine whether the goal has been achieved. An example of a measurable goal could be to reduce production costs by 15%.

Achievable Goals

Achievable goals are those that are realistic and attainable within the constraints of the projectSetting goals that are too ambitious can lead to frustration and failure. It's important to set goals that stretch your team but are within reach.

Relevant Goals

Relevant goals are those that align with the overall objectives of the project. They should contribute to the success of the project and not distract from the main goals. For example, a goal to increase social media followers may not be relevant if the main objective is to increase sales.

Time-bound Goals

Time-bound goals are those that have a deadline or timeframe attached to them. This helps to keep the project on track and ensures that progress is being madeSetting deadlines can also create a sense of urgency and motivation within the team.

In conclusion, SMART standards are a valuable framework for setting clear and achievable goals in project management. By following these standardsproject managers can increase their chances of success and deliver projects that meet stakeholder expectations. So, the next time you're setting project goalsremember to make them SMART.

ISO 27001 – Information Security Management System (ISMS) ISO 27001 (formally known as ISO/IEC 27001:2005) is a specification for an information security management system (ISMS). An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organisation's information risk management processes. According to its documentation, ISO 27001 was developed to "provide a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving an information security management system." ISO 27001 uses a topdown, risk-based approach and is technology-neutral. The specification defines a six-part planning process: ·          Define a security policy. ·          Define the scope of the ISMS. ·          Conduct a risk assessment. ·         ...

ISO 9001:2015 with PDCA Model

An ISO 9001:2015 QMS is a balanced system and to keep your ISO system working effectively you need to value each PDCA element equally and not favor one (i.e. Plan, Do) over the other (Check, Act).
